TrainCan, Inc.’s Food Safety Training Programs are based on the Canadian Food Retail and Food Services Regulation and Code (CFRFSRC), Health Canada and CFIA. BASICS.fst

BASICS.fst is a food safety training course for food handlers. The course will allow workers to learn important information about food safety and provide them with the tools to serve safe food. Any person who works with food should study BASICS.fst – from the person that receives the products at the back door to the person who packages and serves the food to the customers.

ADVANCED.fst

ADVANCED.fst® is a management level food safety training course. The course will help food handlers and management within the Foodservice/Food Retail sectors learn important information about food safety. This course is designed for owner/operators, managers, chefs and any employee who wants to take their food safety knowledge to the next level. You do not have to complete BASICS.fst® to take this course.

Train-the-Trainer Program

Train-the-Trainer provides participants with a solid understanding of the concepts and principals of teaching adults. Train-the-Trainer, once successfully completed will allow individuals who have successfully attained a grade of 90% or higher in ADVANCED.fst to register with TrainCan, Inc. to train the ADVANCED.fst and BASICS.fst food handling certification programs.

HACCP for the Food Service Industry

This course follows the classic approach to Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) and covers the scientific basis and methodology of HACCP. The course is intended for chefs, managers and employees of food service establishments to help attain and ultimately ensure, the safe food and food products consumers demand and competitors are providing.

Allergen Training

While general food safety training courses provide basic information on food allergy, overall, the foodservice and food retail industries still need a more in-depth understanding of the seriousness of food intolerances, food allergies, and anaphylaxis. Any member of the foodservice or retail industry should take this course. You should be aware of the needs of your consumers and what you can do to help meet those needs

Gluten-Free Food Program

Training designed for food handlers to understand the essential elements of a food service gluten-free program, what is involved in offering gluten-free food, why avoiding contamination matters, and how to plan and manage your system once it is in place.

TrainCan, Inc. offers several certification programs to support the development of a safe, well-rounded workplace.

WHMIS 2015

Every worker who works with, or in proximity to, a hazardous product in the workplace must have up-to-date WHMIS training. This course is 100% compliant with current WHMIS legislation and meets the employer’s responsibility to provide general WHMIS training in 2018.

Respect and Inclusion in the Workplace

This course educates participants about acceptable and unacceptable workplace attitudes and behaviours, including discrimination, harassment, and bullying, identifies appropriate ways to respond, and provides practical strategies to support an inclusive workplace environment where everyone feels safe and respected.

Slip, Trip and Fall Prevention

Slips, trips and falls can occur in any workplace. Approximately 60,000 Canadian workers are injured each year due to slip, trip and fall injuries. This course will explain the common causes for these types of injuries and what preventative measure can be taken to reduce the risk of these kinds of injuries in the hospitality workplace.

Cannabis in the Workplace

Two courses are available, Training for Workers and Management Training.

These courses aim to give participants the best possible understanding of the differences between medical and recreational cannabis, their responsibilities when using medical cannabis in the workplace, and employer responsibilities.
