Toronto Public Health issued 36 conditional passes to restaurants, cafés, bakeries, bars and grocery stores from April 20 to April 26.

April 26

Blue Nile Restaurant at 1260 Danforth Avenue received a conditional pass with two major infractions:

  • Food premise maintained in manner to permit contamination of single-service articles

  • Mechanical equipment not maintained to provide sufficient chemical solution rinse

North Pole Bakery at 1210 Danforth Avenue received a conditional pass with two major infractions:

  • Fail to provide thermometer in refrigeration equipment

  • Food premise maintained in manner to permit contamination of single-service articles

Sugar Marmalade at 280 Spadina Avenue received a conditional pass with two major infractions:

  • Fail to maintain handwashing stations (liquid soap and paper towels)

  • Fail to provide equipment for cleaning and sanitizing utensils as required

Superchicken at 995 Bay Street received a conditional pass with five major infractions:

  • Fail to maintain handwashing stations (liquid soap and paper towels)

  • Fail to process food in manner safe to eat

  • Fail to protect against harbouring of pests

  • Fail to protect food from contamination or adulteration

  • Store potentially hazardous foods at internal temperature between 4 C and 60 C

The Great Maratha at 965 Eglinton Avenue West received a conditional pass with one major infraction:

The Gem Bar and Grill at 1159 Davenport Road received a conditional pass with one major infraction:

  • Fail to remove garbage when necessary to maintain sanitary condition

A conditional pass is issued when at least one infraction presents a significant health risk, and a closure is ordered when at least one infraction presents an immediate health hazard. Both outcomes trigger an additional inspection within 48 hours. Failure to comply with Toronto’s DineSafe program can result in fines, court summons and other enforcement action.
