Toronto Public Health issued conditional pass warnings to 38 restaurants over the past week.

Abbirami Catering and Take-Out at 2619 Eglinton Avenue East received a conditional pass on June 8 with the following infractions:

  • Fail to ensure equipment surface cleaned as necessary

  • Fail to protect food from contamination or adulteration

  • Fail to provide thermometer in refrigeration equipment

  • Store potentially hazardous foods at internal temperature between 4 C and 60 C

  • Use dirty cloth for cleaning food contact surface

  • Use utensils not in good repair

Dark Horse Espresso Bar at 416 Front Street East received a conditional pass on June 8 with the following infraction:

  • Maintain potentially hazardous foods at internal temperature between 4 C and 60 C

Fisherman Lobster King at 2900 Warden Avenue received a conditional pass on June 8 with the following infractions:

  • Sanitize utensils using agent for which test reagent not readily available

  • Use food equipment not of readily cleanable form

  • Use handwashing station other than for handwashing of employees

Menchie’s at 623 College Street received a conditional pass on June 8 with the following infractions:

  • Fail to maintain handwashing stations (liquid soap and paper towels)

  • Fail to protect against harbouring of pests

Tondou at 596 College Street received a conditional pass on June 8 with the following infractions:

About DineSafe

All establishments that prepare and serve food in the City of Toronto are subject to Toronto Public Health’s DineSafe program. Such businesses must display their most recent inspection results prominently and without alteration.

Inspections can result in a “pass,” “conditional pass” or “closed” notice. Conditional passes are issued when at least one infraction poses a potential health risk, while the order to close is issued when an immediate health hazard is present.

Both conditional passes and closure notices trigger a follow-up inspection within 48 hours. Failure to correct major infractions upon re-inspection can result in fines, summons to court and other punitive measures.
