DINE SAFE YORK: Inspectors temporarily close Vaughan restaurant

Sep 18, 2017 York Region Health

Public health inspectors also handed out tickets for violations under province’s Health Protection and Promotion Act at 2 Markham food service providers

Public health inspectors issued a closure order at a Vaughan restaurant and handed out tickets for violations under the province’s Health Protection and Promotion Act at two other York Region food service providers.

• Max's of Manila, 1520 Steeles Ave. W., Vaughan, received a closure order Sept. 12 for failing to provide adequate protection against the entrance of insects, vermin, or rodents. The business was re-inspected and re-opened Sept. 14.

Health inspectors issued tickets at two other establishments.

• NKS Banquet Hall, 8360 Kennedy Rd., Markham, was charged Sept. 12 with operating a food premise maintained in manner permitting adverse condition affecting food.

• Firefly Seafood & Steak House, 3229 Hwy. 7 E., Markham, was charged Sept. 13 with failing to ensure an equipment surface was washed as necessary and operating a food premise with mechanical equipment not maintained to provide sufficient chemical solution rinse.

Charges do not necessarily result in failure of the health inspection; they simply highlight problems for which the establishments were penalized. The establishments are given a chance to get back into compliance and pass their health inspections.
