Letter: Gloves and masks only work when used properly
My wife and I watched the governor’s news conference with interest on Friday, April 17. Of the seven speakers that participated, all except Derek Miller removed their masks and placed them on the podium.
So much for not spreading the virus. If other hygiene methods are not practiced, the face mask and gloves become a “feel-good” endeavor. Lt. Gov. Spencer Cox moved the microphone with his elbow, then placed his mask, for a second time, on the podium. Gov. Gary Herbert placed his mask on the podium twice.
Regarding gloves, I will touch or pick up items when wearing gloves that I would not dream of touching with my bare hand. I prefer to have the food handler deliver my food sans gloves.
