DINE SAFE TORONTO: 23 restaurants get conditional passes this week



This week, our Dine Safe Toronto list includes 23 conditional passes issued to food establishments by Toronto Public Health for crucial and significant Food Premises Regulation infractions.

One or more such infractions were observed at each noted establishment during inspections between Wednesday, Feb. 26 and Tuesday, March 3.

Food establishments in this report include restaurants, food court vendors and takeout food locations.

CONDITIONAL PASS
APPLE SPICE RESTAURANT, 3341 MARKHAM RD.

A conditional pass was issued after the following Food Premises Regulation infraction was observed during an inspection March 3.

• Fail to provide hand-washing stations with adequate supplies (hot and cold water).

ASIA DELIGHT, 85 ELLESMERE RD.

A conditional pass was issued after the following Food Premises Regulation infractions were observed during an inspection Feb. 28.

• Fail to protect food from contamination or adulteration.

• Fail to ensure equipment surface cleaned as necessary.

• Use multi-service articles not in good repair.

• Fail to protect against harbouring of pests.

BURRITO BANDIDOS, 1614 QUEEN ST. E.

A conditional pass was issued after the following Food Premises Regulation infractions were observed during an inspection March 2.

• Fail to ensure equipment surface cleaned as necessary.

• Fail to ensure facility surface cleaned as necessary.

CAFE EMJOY, 855 BROADVIEW AVE.

A conditional pass was issued after the following Food Premises Regulation infractions were observed during an inspection Feb. 27.

• Fail to provide adequate number of hand-washing stations.

• Fail to provide thermometer in refrigeration equipment.

CHALKERS PUB, BILLIARDS AND BISTRO, 247 MARLEE AVE.

A conditional pass was issued after the following Food Premises Regulation infractions were observed during an inspection March 2.

• Store ice in unsanitary manner.

• Fail to maintain frozen food in frozen state until prepared for use.

• Fail to ensure equipment surface cleaned as necessary.

• Fail to keep poisonous substance in container bearing identifying label.

• Fail to clean multi-service articles after use.

• Fail to remove wastes when necessary to maintain sanitary condition.

• Fail to maintain records of pest control measures taken.

COOL HAND OF A GIRL, 2804 DUNDAS ST. W.

A conditional pass was issued after the following Food Premises Regulation infractions were observed during an inspection Feb. 21.

• Fail to protect food from contamination or adulteration.

• Fail to ensure storage shelves designed to protect against contamination.

• Use hand-washing station other than for hand washing of employees.

DAHLAK LOUNGE, 1280 DANFORTH AVE.

A conditional pass was issued after the following Food Premises Regulation infractions were observed during an inspection Feb. 29.

• Fail to ensure food handler in food premise washes hands as necessary to prevent contamination of food.

• Fail to provide adequate number of hand-washing stations.

• Fail to sanitize multi-service articles after use.

• Fail to equip sanitary facility with soap or detergent.

ET ALL, 4700 KEELE ST.

A conditional pass was issued after the following Food Premises Regulation infractions were observed during an inspection March 3.

• Display potentially hazardous foods at internal temperature between 4 C and 60 C.

• Fail to protect food from contamination or adulteration.

• Fail to maintain hand-washing stations (liquid soap and paper towels).

FEDERICK RESTAURANT, 1920 ELLESMERE RD.

A conditional pass was issued after the following Food Premises Regulation infractions were observed during an inspection March 3.

• Fail to protect food from contamination or adulteration.

• Fail to provide hand-washing stations with adequate supplies (hot and cold water).

• Thermometer in refrigeration equipment not easily readable.

GOLDEN SPOON, 5650 SHEPPARD AVE. E.

A conditional pass was issued after the following Food Premises Regulation infractions were observed during an inspection March 2.

• Fail to protect food from contamination or adulteration.

• Fail to provide adequate number of hand-washing stations.

• Fail to maintain hand-washing stations (liquid soap and paper towels).

• Fail to provide hot and cold running water in utensil washing area.

JERK PARADISE, 296A GERRARD ST. E.

A conditional pass was issued after the following Food Premises Regulation infractions were observed during an inspection March 2.

• Fail to protect food from contamination or adulteration.

• Fail to ensure equipment surface cleaned as necessary.

• Hand-washing stations not conveniently accessible by food handlers.

LA CUBANA, 392 RONCESVALLES AVE.

A conditional pass was issued after the following Food Premises Regulation infractions were observed during an inspection March 2.

• Store potentially hazardous foods at internal temperature between 4 C and 60 C.

• Mechanical equipment not maintained to provide sufficient chemical solution rinse.

LIN'S CHINESE BUN, 4186 FINCH AVE. E.

A conditional pass was issued after the following Food Premises Regulation infractions were observed during an inspection March 3.

• Display potentially hazardous foods at internal temperature between 4 C and 60 C.

• Provide water not under pressure in food preparation area.

MARTIN'S BAKERY, 2761 MARKHAM RD.

A conditional pass was issued after the following Food Premises Regulation infractions were observed during an inspection March 2.

• Fail to protect food from contamination or adulteration.

• Use food equipment not of sound and tight construction.

• Fail to ensure equipment surface cleaned as necessary.

• Fail to provide hand-washing stations with adequate supplies (hot and cold water).

• Fail to provide hot and cold running water in utensil washing area.

MERHABA BAR & CAFE, 1444 DANFORTH AVE.

A conditional pass was issued after the following Food Premises Regulation infractions were observed during an inspection Feb. 29.

• Fail to maintain hand-washing stations (liquid soap and paper towels).

• Sanitize utensils in chlorine solution of less than 100 p.p.m. of available chlorine.

MONKEY SUSHI, 493 BLOOR ST. W.

A conditional pass was issued after the following Food Premises Regulation infractions were observed during an inspection March 2.

• Refrigeration equipment for potentially hazardous food not of sufficient size.

• Fail to protect food from contamination or adulteration.

• Fail to ensure equipment surface cleaned as necessary.

• Fail to maintain hand-washing stations (liquid soap and paper towels).

• Hand-washing stations not conveniently accessible by food handlers.

• Use food equipment not in good repair.

• Use multi-service articles not in good repair.

• Fail to protect against breeding of pests.

A conditional pass was issued after the following Food Premises Regulation infractions were observed during an inspection March 3.

• Maintain potentially hazardous foods at internal temperature between 4 C and 60 C.

• Fail to provide thermometer in refrigeration equipment.

A conditional pass was issued after the following Food Premises Regulation infraction was observed during an inspection March 2.

• Fail to ensure facility surface cleaned as necessary.

A conditional pass was issued after the following Food Premises Regulation infraction was observed during an inspection March 3.

• Mechanical equipment not maintained to provide sufficient chemical solution rinse.

THAI BY THE PARK, 1675 BLOOR ST. W.

A conditional pass was issued after the following Food Premises Regulation infractions were observed during an inspection Feb. 28.

• Fail to protect food from contamination or adulteration.

• Mechanical equipment not constructed to provide sufficient chemical solution rinse.

• Mechanical equipment not maintained to maintain wash water between 60 C and 71 C.

• Fail to protect against harbouring of pests.

THE ANNEX BILLIARDS CLUB, 507 BLOOR ST. W.

A conditional pass was issued after the following Food Premises Regulation infractions were observed during an inspection March 2.

• Fail to ensure equipment surface cleaned as necessary.

• Fail to sanitize multi-service articles after use.

• Fail to keep sanitary facility sanitary.

THE DESSERT KITCHEN, 73 HARBORD ST.

A conditional pass was issued after the following Food Premises Regulation infractions were observed during an inspection March 2.

• Handle ice in unsanitary manner.

• Mechanical equipment not maintained to maintain rinse water at 82 C.

• Fail to retain records of pest control measures taken for one year.

• Fail to protect against harbouring of pests.

THE JOHN, 1174 BLOOR ST. W.

A conditional pass was issued after the following Food Premises Regulation infractions were observed during an inspection March 2.

• Fail to provide adequate number of hand-washing stations.

• Use food equipment not in good repair.

• Mechanical equipment not maintained to provide sufficient chemical solution rinse.

• Fail to provide equipment for cleaning and sanitizing utensils as required.
