DINE SAFE TORONTO: 2 restaurants closed, 21 get conditional passes



This week, our Dine Safe Toronto list includes two closures and 21 conditional passes issued to food establishments by Toronto Public Health for crucial and significant Food Premises Regulation infractions.

One or more such infractions were observed at each noted establishment during inspections between Wednesday, Dec. 18 and Sunday, Dec. 29.

Food establishments in this report include restaurants, food court vendors and takeout food locations.


CLOSURE

KANPAI, 252 CARLTON ST.

A closure was issued after the following Food Premises Regulation infractions were observed during an inspection Dec. 19.

• Store potentially hazardous foods at internal temperature between 4 C and 60 C.

• Fail to protect food from contamination or adulteration.

• Food premise maintained in manner permitting health hazard (insects).

• Fail to ensure equipment surface cleaned as necessary.

• Sanitize utensils using agent for which test reagent not readily available.

• Fail to provide thermometer in refrigeration equipment.

• Fail to protect against breeding of pests.

UNCLE BANNA KITCHEN, 1669 ST CLAIR AVE. W.

A closure was issued after the following Food Premises Regulation infractions were observed during an inspection Dec. 19.

• Food premise maintained in manner permitting health hazard (insects).

• Fail to maintain records of pest control measures taken.

CONDITIONAL PASS

CHICKEN BIRYANI, 8 WESTMORE DR.

A conditional pass was issued after the following Food Premises Regulation infractions were observed during an inspection Dec. 29.

• Display potentially hazardous foods at internal temperature between 4 C and 60 C.

• Fail to maintain hand-washing stations (liquid soap and paper towels).

• Sanitize utensils in chlorine solution of less than 100 p.p.m. of available chlorine.

DIM SUM KING, 50 SILVER STAR BLVD.

A conditional pass was issued after the following Food Premises Regulation infractions were observed during an inspection Dec. 20.

• Use utensils not of sound and tight construction.

• Use utensils not of readily cleanable form.

• Fail to ensure equipment surface cleaned as necessary.

• Use cloth used for other purpose for cleaning food contact surface.

• Sanitize utensils using agent for which test reagent not readily available.

FABBRICA RESTAURANT, 49 KARL FRASER RD.

A conditional pass was issued after the following Food Premises Regulation infractions were observed during an inspection Dec. 27.

• Store potentially hazardous foods at internal temperature between 4 C and 60 C.

• Refrigeration equipment for potentially hazardous food not of sufficient size.

• Fail to protect food from contamination or adulteration.

• Hand-washing stations not conveniently accessible by food handlers.

• Fail to clean multi-service articles after use.

• Fail to provide thermometer in refrigeration equipment.

FAR EAST CHINESE FOOD, 137 MARTIN GROVE RD.

A conditional pass was issued after the following Food Premises Regulation infractions were observed during an inspection Dec. 20.

• Fail to maintain records of food purchased.

• Use utensils not free from cracks in contact with food.

• Use hand-washing station other than for hand washing of employees.

• Fail to sanitize multi-service articles after use.

• Fail to maintain records of pest control measures taken.

GLOW FRESH GRILL & WINE BAR, 7 MARIE LABATTE RD.

A conditional pass was issued after the following Food Premises Regulation infractions were observed during an inspection Dec. 27.

• Fail to protect food from contamination or adulteration.

• Hand-washing stations not conveniently accessible by food handlers.

• Mechanical equipment not maintained to maintain rinse water at 82 C.

GOLDEN STAR RESTAURANT, 2133 JANE ST.

A conditional pass was issued after the following Food Premises Regulation infractions were observed during an inspection Dec. 28.

• Fail to protect food from contamination or adulteration.

• Use hand-washing station other than for hand washing of employees.

• Use dirty cloth for cleaning utensils.

• Sanitize utensils in chlorine solution of less than 100 p.p.m. of available chlorine.

• Fail to provide thermometer in refrigeration equipment.

• Fail to remove wastes when necessary to maintain sanitary condition.

A conditional pass was issued after the following Food Premises Regulation infraction was observed during an inspection Dec. 18.

A conditional pass was issued after the following Food Premises Regulation infractions were observed during an inspection Dec. 23.

• Sell potentially hazardous foods at internal temperature between 4 C and 60 C.

• Fail to ensure food handler in food premise washes hands as necessary to prevent contamination of food.

• Sanitize utensils in quaternary ammonium compound solution of less than 200 p.p.m.

A conditional pass was issued after the following Food Premises Regulation infractions were observed during an inspection Dec. 19.

• Fail to ensure storage shelves designed to protect against contamination.

• Fail to maintain hand-washing stations (liquid soap and paper towels).

• Fail to provide equipment for cleaning and sanitizing utensils as required.

A conditional pass was issued after the following Food Premises Regulation infraction was observed during an inspection Dec. 27.

ROBES BAR AND LOUNGE, 3022 BATHURST ST.

A conditional pass was issued after the following Food Premises Regulation infractions were observed during an inspection Dec. 27.

• Store potentially hazardous foods at internal temperature between 4 C and 60 C.

• Fail to provide hand-washing stations with adequate supplies (hot and cold water).

• Mechanical equipment not maintained to provide sufficient chemical solution rinse.

• Fail to protect against harbouring of pests.
