DINE SAFE YORK: Public health inspectors charge 4 eating establishments by Adam Martin-Robbins, Dec. 27, 2017

Eateries in Markham, Vaughan charged for violations under the province’s Health Protection and Promotion Act.

Public health inspectors handed out tickets for violations under the province’s Health Protection and Promotion Act at four York Region food service providers.

• Hockey Sushi, 1102 Centre St., Vaughan, was charged Dec. 18 with operating a food premise not maintained to permit sanitary maintenance of walls, failing to ensure the floor of a food-handling room was kept clean, failing to ensure an equipment surface was washed as necessary and failing to store food on racks or shelves.

• 1118 Bistro Bar & Grill , 1118 Centre St., Vaughan, was charged Dec. 18 with failing to ensure a facility surface was washed as necessary.

• Ten23 Karaoke, 3100 Steeles Ave., Markham, was charged Dec. 21 with operating a food premise maintained in a manner adversely affecting sanitary condition.

• Bellafornia Bakery Cafe and Bar, 7181 Yonge St., Markham, was charged Dec. 22 with using a basin other than for hand washing of employees.

Charges do not necessarily result in failure of the health inspection; they simply highlight problems for which the establishments were penalized. The establishments are given a chance to get back into compliance and pass their health inspections.
